Thursday 21 Nov 2019Intelligent Mobile Edge Computing: From Ground to Sky

Dr. Kezhi Wang - Northumbria University

Harrison 170 14:00-15:00

In this talk, I will first give a brief introduction to mobile edge computing (MEC), including why we need MEC, who may own MEC and where to deploy MEC. Next, I will introduce the ground based MEC, then move to cooperative MEC, UAV-assisted MEC and hybrid MEC systems. The research challenges will be discussed. Possible solutions, including convex optimization methods, computational intelligence and machine learning based solutions will be introduced. The talk is concluded with discussions on the future research directions in this exciting research area.

Kezhi Wang received his Ph.D. degree in Engineering from the University of Warwick, U.K. in 2015. He was a Senior Research Officer in University of Essex, U.K. Currently he is a Senior Lecturer with Department of Computer and Information Sciences at Northumbria University, U.K. His research interests include edge computing, UAV networks, optimization algorithm and protocol design, computational Intelligence and machine learning. He has published 27 IEEE Journal papers, including 14 IEEE transactions. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Communication Systems and IEEE Access. He also serves/have served as a guest editor for several international journals.
