Thursday 03 Oct 2019: NT Seminar: Picard groups of group algebras
Dr Florian Eisele - University of Glasgow
H103 14:30-16:30
I will talk about recent work on the structure of Picard groups of group
algebras and more general orders over mixed-characteristic discrete
valuation rings. Namely, the Picard groups (an the related outer
automorphism groups) of group algebras turn out to be finite, and the
Picard groups of a more general class of orders are algebraic groups. In
particular, these groups are much smaller than their counterparts over a
field of prime characteristic. I will also briefly mention applications
of these results to modular representation theory, in particular
Donovan's conjecture.
