Thursday 15 Feb 2018Randomness in arithmetic problems and dynamics

Prof. Alex Gorodnik - University of Bristol

We discuss a problem of counting solutions of Diophantine

It turns out that the corresponding counting functions behave like

sums of independent random variables.

We explain how this phenomenon is related to chaotic properties of

certain dynamical systems.
