Elaine Ring - Severn Trent Water
Harrison 170 14:00-15:00
This talk will provide an introduction to Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS), the benefits it can provide and the challenges of implementation. It will challenge the audience to think about solutions to the institutional hurdles that can obstruct progress of SuDS in the UK and provide an insight into the work Severn Trent Water do to adopt a more sustainable approach to wastewater management.
Elaine has over 3 years’ experience working in the UK Water Industry both in utilities companies such as Thames Water and Severn Trent Water and as a Consultant at Arup. Her interest in a water sensitive approach to urban planning and design stems from her long standing interest in balancing the interaction between people and the environment and an academic background in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Technology. Her recent experience in business improvement and investment planning for water companies has given her a broad understanding of water management issues as a whole, in particular, planning investment in wastewater infrastructure.
