I will talk about some recent work that proves upper bounds for sup-norms of new Maass forms in the level aspect, with special emphasis on the case of powerful levels. This extends previous work of Blomer-Holowinsky, Harcos-Templier, and others, who dealt with the case of increasing squarefree levels.
