In my talk I will explain how one can define etale fundamental groups of affinoid spaces in rigid analytic geometry and formal germs of formal schemes. I will then discuss a new result which describes the structure of the geometric etale fundamental group of an affinoid p-adic curve and of a formal germ of a p-adic curve.
