Monday 25 Jan 2016CEMPS - The Impact Incubator

Professor John Terry (Chair) - Associate Dean for Research (Impact)

Innovation Centre - Conference room 1&2 13:00-17:00

Who should attend?

This event is intended for both academics looking to explore the potential for impact arising from the research, as well as for those whose journey towards realising impact is more advanced. Awards of up to GBP5,000 will be available to kick-start or consolidate impact related activities.

Workshop aims:

This incubator aims to move away from the 'theory of impact', to the practicalities and realities. We will get attendees to think about what they need to do to take their research towards the direction of impact, and to provide them with both financial and administrative resource to help start or continue their journey.

What is the event about?

Professors David Butler and Dragan Savic (Engineering) will give opening presentations. As a panel member for UoA15, David will explore the realiities of how impact case studies are assessed and introduce some of the key ingredients that lead to lasting and measurable societal impact. Then Professor John Terry (Mathematics), along with members of the Innovation, Impact and Business (IIB) Directoratre will facilitate sessions where attendees will produce an impact plan and consider the resources needed to deliver it. At the end of the day, attendees will provide essential information to determine the next steps for how each plan should be supported.
