Using data from both the 2014 Scottish Independence Referendum and the 2015 General Election, the presentation will explore the dynamics of influence among citizens, politicians, media, and elites, using new work that offers both advances in the political science and communications literatures on information flows and social media, and advances in computing science related to the application of topic models to Tweets.
