Monday 19 Oct 2015: Dynamics seminar: Analysis of local bifurcations in neural fields with transmission delays

In this seminar I will provide an outline of
- neural field models, an effective way to model the brain's activity at a macroscopic scale,
- the functional analytical difficulties that arise when accounting for transmission delays between neurons,
- center manifold reduction for this new class of models.
These new functional analytic techniques will be used to investigate the role of axonal delays on the spatio-temporal patterns forming in the brain. In particular, I will show analytical and numerical results for a simple spherical model of the brain.
