Tuesday 11 Feb 2014iWIDGET: Smart water meters and ICT technologies for efficient water use

Dr Lydia Vamvakeridou-Lyroudia - University of Exeter

Harrison room 170 14:00-15:00

Smart water meters are increasingly being used in the water industry for improving water efficiency and demand management. This seminar presents an overview on the potential of smart water meters for efficient water use, focusing on iWIDGET, an ongoing EU FP7 Project (2012-2015), coordinated by the University of Exeter/CWS (Prof. Dragan Savic). The aim of iWIDGET (www.i-widget.eu and/or www.iwidget.eu ) is to advance knowledge and understanding about smart metering technologies in order to develop novel, robust, practical and cost-effective ICT methodologies and tools (“widgets”) to manage urban water demand in households, by reducing wastage, improving utility understanding of end-user demand and reducing customer water and energy costs.
