The Battle of the Water Networks II (BWN-II) was the latest in a series of competitions related to the design and operation of water distribution systems (WDSs). The BWN-II problem involved the upgrade and expansion of a large WDS design based on a real-life pipe network. Fourteen international research groups from major universities took part. The presenter was part of the team that submitted the winning solution. This presentation provides an overview of the parallel evolutionary optimisation methodology used to achieve this winning solution.
