This module is intended as an introductory module to provide you with a broad overview of the energy landscape, with a particular focus on renewable energy resource assessment and implementing technologies. As well as typical lectures the student participate in an RE “away day” that considers some aspect of a particular technology – last year was a “surf day” where the students combined teaching and workshops on mariner renewables with time in the water experiencing the waves. Student require the general entrance requirements for the degree. The student also has to prepare a “one slide” presentation discussing the opportunities for a particular resource.
The module can be taken by the non-specialist with a general background in basic physics/ maths.
