Enjoy communal seating space in each building to work or socialise with your fellow students.Undergraduate student life
As an undergraduate Medical Imaging student at Exeter you will join an exciting, hands-on, contemporary department. We pride ourselves on providing a challenging academic experience enhanced with state-of-the-art teaching facilities e.g. x-ray suite; practical hands-on clinical experience from year one and a highly praised tutorial system. We believe that these opportunities contribute to the high ranking of the department within the UK – Exeter is ranked 6th for graduate level employment and postgraduate study rates for first degree graduates in Medical Technology, and 7th for subjects allied to Medicine in The Times Good University Guide 2012.
Student societies
We have a lively community of Medical Imaging students who run the X-rated society on the Streatham campus. Social meetings and events are organized throughout the academic year and provide excellent opportunities for getting to know your fellow students and most importantly having fun!
Social facilities
All undergraduates have unlimited access to social and library areas on campus, as well as communal study areas within each academic building. In particular, medical imaging students can access the physics building’s library, enabling great opportunities for meeting and working with fellow students. Furthermore, social areas in the physics building provide relaxed seating and a variety of food and drink specifically for physics and medical imaging students whether you are working in the building all day or simply passing through between lectures.
Your voice as a student
Our academics and students develop strong working relationships over the course of a degree programme, a factor we feel is important to your success.
SSLC: Student-Staff Liaison Committees
Student-Staff Liaison Committees (SSLCs) are student-run forums for suggestions and feedback to and from the College staff. SSLC's are fairly informal committees, chaired by one of the student representatives, which meets about once a term to discuss a wide range of issues and developments.
SSLCs include representatives from each year and each programme. Their job is to provide a point of contact for the students on their programmes.
MACE: Module and course evaluation
Feedback from students is requested for every module. Module leaders receive this feedback and are required to respond to the scores and comments received via the Annual Module Review process. The responses are subsequently shared with students.
University life and student support
The University provides many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of your studies. The Students’ Guild runs clubs and societies across a whole range of activities and interests and has one of the most advanced student media networks in the country. Our sports facilities are also amongst the best in the country. We aim to make sure our students leave us with memories of their time at university that they will treasure, and benefit from, for a long time after they graduate.
You can find out more about what life is like for students on the Streatham campus and what support is available for you on the student life pages of the Undergraduate Study website. The website also includes student profiles and films, which give a flavour of life on campus.
When I visited Exeter I was struck by the layout of the campus, proximity to town and position of the physics building. The view from the top is amazing and looks out all the way to Exmouth! I found my experience at Exeter to be incredible.
I feel like part of the university and enjoyed all aspects. I am on the committee of two societies, and a member of another, and have met and made good friends with many people with shared interests outside of my programme whilst studying. The teaching was good and I found all lecturers were accessible when I needed them. The student union offers many ways of getting involved even if it’s just a lemonade at the Ram and I especially enjoyed the summer ball where there was a jazz lawn, silent disco and even dodgems! I have gained and learnt so much whilst here and am going to miss it immensely. I also joined in a local dance team and have found the city of Exeter extremely accommodating of its students.

BSc Medical Imaging (Diagnostic Radiography)

The University of Exeter has provided a platform to pursue my dreams. There are only a few Universities in the UK accepting international applications for my course and I am grateful that I got the offer to study here.
It has been over two years since I moved to the UK and I have spent that time studying A-levels to get into a University. I love my department as it satisfies all my needs. My classmates, lecturers and the support staff are very friendly and helpful. People around me are very kind and understanding of my needs as I am the only international student in my class.
The University website has all the necessary information a student may need and it is quite easy to access. The library is being renovated now and I found a good collection of academic resources during my time at the library. I play tennis and badminton in the University and am occupied most of the time.
The social life is great and I have been to lots of parties that happen in the city. It has been an enjoyable experience so far and looking forward to more of it. I hope to become a radiographer and work in a hospital which would be my ideal career. However I also hope to do my Masters before that.
