I'm in the last year of my PhD working under the supervision of Prof Vadim N. Biktashev.
I'm interested in Mathematical biology specifically cardiac modelling. My research focuses on finding efficient methods for solving Markov chain (MC) ion channel models.
The ion channel models are elementary parts of cardiac cell models. The MC description of ion channel has shown to be more consistent with experimental findings. The disadvantage of MC models is their relative stiffness which leads to higher instability and/or computational cost. This project aims to address the instability issue of MC models by applying methods based on exponential time differentiation.
