I am currently a first year PhD student at the University of Exeter, funded by the NERC GW4+ doctoral training partnership. My current area of research is understanding Arctic Sea Ice and its role in weather and climate, more specifically seasonal weather forecasting and predictability. Potentially improved skill in seasonal forecasting can be obtained through better representation and understanding of Arctic Sea Ice, along with improved knowledge of how this couples to the atmosphere.

My background is primarily meteorology, and the physical and dynamical mechanisms which control the evolution of the atmosphere. I also have a keen interest in operational weather forecasting, along with extreme weather events.

In addition to my research, I also actively engage with the public in sharing the science I undertake in weather and climate, such as developing applications that create weather graphics and animations, and have also taken on a role as the RMetS student ambassador for Exeter University.

Educational Background:

  • Leeds University - M.Res Climate and Atmosphere Science (Dist.)
  • Reading University - B.Sc. Meteorology and Climate (1st)
