Blanca is a Research Fellow on the "EuroClim" project. The project is led by Prof. Mark P. Baldwin and has the ultimate goal of improving predictions of European climate on monthly to inter-annual timescales.

After finishing her PhD at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 2012, Blanca worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Freie Universitaet Berlin in the "Atmospheric dynamics" group. In June 2015 she joined the University of Exeter.

Research interests

Blanca’s research interests are mainly focused on stratosphere-troposphere coupling in the Northern Hemisphere. In fact, most of her past research was devoted to the analysis of different aspects of major stratospheric warmings. Currently, she is also interested in the possible feedbacks of the stratosphere with other components of the climate system such as sea ice or ocean.

She is involved in different international scientific initiatives such as S-RIP (SPARC Reanalysis Intercomparison Project) or CCMI (Chemistry Climate Model Initiative).
