Climate and Health

Our special interest: how weather and climate forecasts can be incorporated into disease risk prediction models to assist in public health decision making.

We possess strong expertise in spatial, temporal and space-time statistical modelling including Bayesian hierarchical modelling and MCMC techniques. We draw on other expertise within Exeter Climate Systems, e.g. in climate science, weather prediction, extreme value theory etc., and also on wider expertise within SECaM in dynamical systems, data mining, hydrology, environmental engineering etc.

The climate and health theme in XCS is particularly interested in involvement in joint research projects / PhD supervision with environmental / public health / epidemiological / biological groups working in climate / weather related human and animal health impacts and associated adaptation.
