Study abroad in Sydney at the University of New South Wales.Exeter Mathematics students have the opportunity to study abroad as part of their degree programmes. In the College we have student exchange agreements under the European Erasmus programme and also a worldwide programme with our partner universities.
You can study under the Erasmus programme if you are undertaking a Flexible Combined Honours degree - combining Mathematics with a language.
Alternatively, if you are on one of our four year single honours Mathematics programmes (MMath or MSci) you have the option of studying for one semester at an English-speaking international partner university in the USA, Canada, Hong Kong, Australia or New Zealand.
Students from our international partners are also welcomed to study Mathematics and Computer Science for a period of their degrees here in the College at Exeter via our schemes for incoming students.
Erasmus programme
The Erasmus programme is a European Union (EU) initiative to promote student mobility between universities in the various member countries of the EU, including some countries that are either close geographically or near to joining. It provides a framework for various sorts of exchange visit and funding to cover additional expenses incurred by students studying abroad. It is a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in another culture, improve your language skills, make new friends and test your potential.

Semester of Mathematical Studies Abroad:
After visiting the University and attending some of the introductory lectures, I decided Exeter was the place for me. I was interested in the several module choices available to me and particularly excited about the opportunity to spend one semester abroad. I consider the opportunity to study abroad to be an invaluable experience and one I have relished. It has been an unforgettable experience and it will influence me for years to come.
The teaching style varies within the department. Some are traditional in their approach while others implement modern technology in their teaching methods. There are loads of opportunities around and you just need to get involved in as many as possible. Being a representative on the staff student liaison committee has given me an insight into the running of the department and has been a rewarding experience. I am involved in the sub-aqua club and it is through the club that I have travelled to places such as Egypt and Malta. I hope it stays with me as a life time hobby.
I hope to develop a successful career in a mathematical discipline, fully utilising the skills I have developed over my time at Exeter University. The programme has taught me to be independent in my approach to work but also not to be afraid to ask for help when necessary. It has shaped the person I am and I am sure these skills I have developed will be put to use in everything I do in future.

MMath in Mathematics

The friendliness of the staff during the open day and the beautiful campus instantly attracted me to the University. When you add the excellent reputation to the above, there is no point looking beyond for another University and I decided to pursue my degree in Exeter.
Student life is amazing and being an Exeter undergraduate, you get so many opportunities to get involved in be it in SSLC, societies or the different sports clubs.
I hope to achieve 2:1 and go on to be a secondary Maths teacher. Without this programme, I would not have had the ability to become a teacher and now I also have a chance to teach French.
University has given me amazing experiences through the opportunities on campus and abroad. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time and all these wonderful moments will be fond memories when I look back.
