Current Research: "Controlled Airspace Infringement Tool"

Definition: "Controlled airspace infringement tool (CAIT) is a ground based safety net which warns air traffic controllers of an unauthorized penetration of the protected airspace." The current CAIT warns ATCs only when the aircraft has already infringed the controlled airspace (CAS), and this is not efficient in terms of the warning time and safety, such as causing a conflict with an authorized aircraft flying within CAS.

My research is based on developing a new model which predicts future infringements accurately ahead in time. To do that, we proposed a model which predicts different locations of the aircraft in the future and assign probabilities to each one of them. A challenging feature which is the change of flying mode such as a cooridnated turn was added to the model and its currently under investigation.
