Hi - my name is Alemtsehai A. Turasie. I am doing a PhD on co-integration of climate trends supervised by Professor David Stephenson, Professor James Davidson and Dr. Tim Jupp. I did my BSc and MSc in Statistics at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. I have had one paper published in the Journal of the Ethiopian Statistical Association. This paper, which is my MSc Thesis supervised by Prof. Eshetu Wencheko, focusses on modelling association of HIV infection with some demographic and socio-economic factors.
My current work is an interdisciplinary project which will develop and apply Statistical co-integration models to help understand and predict trends in climate such as global mean temperature. The cointegrating relationships between trends in climate model simulations and observations will be critically assessed to see how well such models do at capturing reality. New multivariate and spatial approaches will be explored for assessing regional trends. The work will benefit from collaboration with scientists involved in decadal prediction at the UK Met Office.
