Visiting Professor in Infrastructure Engineering
A Chartered Civil Engineer, Ruth has over 35 years’ experience in the provision of management and technical consultancy to regulated industries in the UK and internationally.
Previously CEO of Ewan Group, a Director of Mouchel Utilities and a Director of WRc, Ruth is Managing Partner at RSKW Ltd. Ruth’s work has included infrastructure asset management advice in the UK and internationally covering issues such as leakage and network management, service delivery, pipeline rehabilitation, water and sewerage company privatisation, pump scheduling and energy management, environmental management and ISO55000 (Asset Management) compliance.
At WRc and as CEO of Ewan Group, Ruth initiated pioneering developments in the field of asset management and was responsible for codes of practice and advisory documents on asset condition, performance and management. Ruth has chaired numerous professional institution specialist committees and was asset management adviser in the privatisation of London Underground. Ruth is a member of the Water UK Standards Board.
Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor
Ruth has been associated with the University of Exeter since 2001. She has been a member of The College’s Industrial Advisory Board and currently sits on the WISE CDT’s Industrial Advisory Board.
As Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor in Infrastructure Engineering, Ruth Allen will apply her water industry and infrastructure asset management experience to ensure clear understanding for both students and academic staff of the links between the in-depth theoretical subjects being taught and best practices as applied in industrial settings.
Ruth will also work to enhance the employability of students by developing their appreciation of professional practice approaches and transferable skills, such as team working, personal organisation, business development, ethics and professionalism and project management.
