Dr Bill Hooper
Associate
Research Interests
His main interests are in the study of the relationship between microstructure and the mechanical proprieties of materials. Particular areas include:
- The development of novel materials for dental cements; studies of surface fatigue in engineering materials, especially the fretting wear of hip joint prostheses;
- Studies of the microstructure and wear of ultra hard materials; indentation hardness and its applications; hardness testing (particularly microhardness) and its application to the characterization of the mechanical properties of materials; indentation hardness, fracture, and creep; and engineering failure analysis.
