Dr. Maria Rosaria Marsico  is presently a Senior Lecturer at the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences of the University of Exeter, UK. She has obtained her Ph.D. degree in Structural Engineering at 2008 and she was Research Assistant at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Bristol, UK.

She conducts research in Earthquake Engineering, Structural Dynamics, Structural Health Monitoring, Control Systems and Energy Dissipation.

She worked on the instability of cables in stay-bridges (EPSRC grant: EP/F030711/1, Experimental bifurcation analysis for hybrid testing methods) and she was Visiting Researcher at the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of California in 2008-2009.

She worked at the Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center (PEERC) of U.C. Berkeley with Prof. James M. Kelly. She optimised an innovative method to design buckling and roll-out displacement for multilayer elastomeric bearings used for seismic protection.

Dr. Marsico has been member of ReLUIS, University Network of Seismic Engineering Laboratories supported by the Department of Civil Protection in Italy. She is reviewer for highly ranked journals and she published several articles in reputed international journals.
