X-AT is part of the Exeter Technologies Group, which is an industry focussed research group within the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences (CEMPS). It comprises three separate centres that come together to provide materials research, expertise and testing capabilities, with both novel and traditional processing techniques, to deliver solutions for industry. We can work with businesses starting from very short consulting work to long term collaborative research projects. 

Our expertise is built on a deep materials science background, coupled with the knowledge and expertise of manufacturing processes. This enables us to develop, improve and optimise materials and processes for polymers and composites in a range of industries. Our facilities allow us to investigate at both the micro and macro level, with extensive thermal characterisation, materials testing and processing capabilities. 

We can offer material testing and process optimisation capabilities, whilst also working with you to develop new materials, products or manufacturing processes and systems. We are flexible with how we work with companies but typical examples include:

Grant Funded Projects

X-AT has an excellent track record of securing grant funding and we can support companies looking to gain funding for research projects in this area. Advising and supporting all aspects of the process from developing the collaboration, writing the proposal, delivering the project and carrying out the necessary reporting. Knowledge Transfer and PhD Programmes

We consistently have PhD students within the group and actively engage with companies to jointly fund and support PhD's investigating novel aspects of materials science, manufacturing processes and modelling. In addition we have experience of supporting a number of Knowledge Transfer Partnerships and other knowledge exchange and training programmes.
