Additive layer manufacturing can produce incredibly complex components.

Centre for Additive Layer Manufacturing

The Centre for Additive Layer Manufacturing (CALM) is a £2.6M investment in innovative manufacturing for the benefit of businesses in the South West and across the rest of the UK. The University of Exeter was awarded funding for the centre from the European Regional Development Fund as a result of its excellent research and development work in the field of additive manufacturing and for its strong links with business. CALM is delivered in collaboration with EADS UK Ltd, based at Filton, Bristol.

CALM has evolved out of a number of research projects concerned with additive manufacturing that X-AT has undertaken in recent years, and the two centres maintain very close working relations, sharing a number of key pieces of equipment and members of support staff.
