Ahmed’s research work involves using a probabilistic approach for vibration serviceability assessment of civil structures due to multiple-pedestrian loading.

Ahmed graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering in the University of Mosul/Iraq in 2009, where he was ranked first in his class. Following that, he was awarded a fully funded scholarship from the Higher Committee for Education Development in Iraq (HCED) to do his Master’s degree in the UK. He finished his MSc in Structural Engineering at the University of Sheffield with a distinction in 2011. After graduation, Ahmed returned to his home country and was appointed as an assistant lecturer at the University of Mosul, after spending several months working as a Structural Engineer on construction sites.

In September 2015, Ahmed joined VES as a PhD student under the supervision of Prof Alex Pavic and Prof Paul Reynolds, after being awarded a fully funded scholarship from the College
