Industrial environments are often not optimised for energy efficiency, and simple actions can yield substantial cost savings with a relatively short payback on capital outlay

Axminster Carpets KTP

Axminster Carpets contacted the university with a view to reducing their energy costs. They entered into a Knowlegde Transfer Partnership (KTP) with the Centre for Energy and the Environment, and we supported a member of staff funded by the KTP. The project identified many opportunities to save energy and reduce carbon emissions, including lighting, compressed air systems, simple housekeeping measures and insulating building fabric.  In the first year of the KTP, carbon emissions were reduced by 10% at the Buckfast site and 27% at the Axminster site.
