Research
Investigating vortex induced vibration response in slender, flexible structures for high velocity locations, specifically for tidal stream device foundation installation applications.
Funded by the Technology Strategy Board, I am working with Bauer Renewables Ltd and Mojo Maritime to provide post operational analysis on the hydro-dynamically induced vibrations of a drilling umbilical used for installing a monopile foundation for a tidal stream device at the European Marine Energy Centre, Orkney.
This work has included design validation work, drag forces analysis, design and installation of data acquisition system on the drilling equipment and processing of the data.
