I spent eight weeks volunteering for a charity in the South West, designing and implementing their new website. It gave me an opportunity to be creative and learn more about the design aspects of such a project, while actually being on the job.
I found it really enjoyable. The charity weren’t too sure about what they wanted from the website, and they weren’t really technically aware, so I was left to make the decisions and really take control. They trusted me to provide exactly what they wanted, which was great. I think the most pleasing aspect of my particular project was being able to see it through from beginning to end, and being a part of its overall development.
I had the chance to really express myself, and put my ideas across. It was challenging, but so enjoyable. Although it was a comparatively small project, I am really happy that I have been able to help and be a part of the final product. It also gave me an insight into what the workplace is really about, and what I can expect in the future.
