Computer Science

School visits

Computer Scientists can also come and visit your school. We can either deliver one of five workshops (aimed at students aged 12 - 18) on topics such as 'Logic' and 'What is Intelligence?' or lectures aimed at older students (age 16-18).

Example lecture: Joining the Dots

This lecture gives students an overview of the different research fields that are found in Artificial Intelligence (AI).

We also offer conferences for Year 12 students. For more information please visit the conferences webpage. If you are interested in bringing a group of Year 12 students to a conference please contact us.

Inside the Machine

Inside the Machine is a scheme which began in the academic year 2008/2009. The scheme involves a member of our Computer Science staff visiting your school to give a ninety-minute workshop to your students. Each workshop is themed on one aspect of Artificial Intelligence, the field that is the focus of Computer Science research here at the University. You will be able to pick a theme from our selection that you feel would most benefit your students.

The pilot of this scheme was very well received and the results were very positive. We do hope to hear from you soon if you are interested.
